Term 6

Curriculum overview

Our theme this term is 'In the Garden'

We will be exploring how plants grow in the garden, and the different minibeasts you might find, too!

To learn some Makaton signs about minibeasts, have a look at this Singing Hands video:

Please click on the learning overview at the bottom of the page to see what we will be learning in Term 6.

Please remember you can log onto Evidence for Learning to find updates and photos of your child's learning.

Our Maths focus this term is 'Number' and 'Addition'

Click here to watch one of our Maths song for this term- 5 Little Flowers.

We will also be learning to identify some regular 2D and 3D shapes.

Our Literacy focus book is called 'Snail Trail'

Where does the snail explore in the garden? Can you find a snail in your garden?

We will also be learning about the life cycle of a butterfly. We love the story of The Very Hungry Caterpillar.

Every Friday we will receive music enrichment and learn some new action songs as well as revisiting some old favourites, too.

We will also be preparing the children for any transition to new classes at the end of the term. More information to follow from your class teacher.

Key Dates and other information

PE will be on a Tuesday morning this term.

Please can you ensure that your child has a PE kit in school.  This will be a white T-shirt, shorts and a pair of black daps.  Please can these items be sent in a bag with your child's name on each item of clothing.

Weekly Swimming sessions will continue to take place on a Thursday morning.

Please can you ensure that your child has a Swimming kit in school. This will be a swimming costume/ swim shorts, a towel and double nappy system (if required- see below for details). Please can these items be sent in a bag with your child's name on each item. We will keep the Swimming kits in school, wash weekly and send them home at the end of every Term.

If your child is not yet toilet trained the double nappy system will be required to try. A double system has 2 steps:

Step 1 - Nappy wrap (reusable swim nappy)  Or disposable swim nappy

Step 2 – Incontinence swimwear pants/shorts that seal around the waist and thighs.

Here is some information about incontinence swimwear pants/shorts that seal around the waist and thighs

Splash About have created a range of incontinence swimwear for older children and adults, providing the same benefits as the award-winning Happy Nappy in discreet, grown-up styles. Splash Shorts, Jammers and Splash Costumes can help everyone enjoy swimming – please click this link for more information

Staying safe in the sun

Hopefully we will see lots of sunshine this term!  Please can you apply sunscreen before your child comes to school, but also send in a bottle of sunscreen clearly labelled and a sun hat - we have limited shade on the playground.

Kids Day In!

Kids Day in will take place on Wednesday 15th June - More info to follow.
