It's 2022 and we are all looking forward to an exciting term at New Siblands. We hope you have all had a good Christmas holiday and everyone stayed healthy. Please find some information on Term 3 below.
This term our topic is 'In the Desert'.
In Geography on looking at hot places, using maps, atlases and globes and focusing on animal habitats in Science. As part of our joint Art and DT topics we will be making moving animal toys and African drumming in Music. PE will focus on football and ball skills.
Our books for this term are 'Quill Soup' by Alan Durant and 'Meerkat Mail' by Emily Gravett, and we will deliver our English curriculum through them. In Maths, our focus is Subtraction and Shape.
In PHSE, we will be looking at goals and dreams. We will be working with Ruby Class and merging the classes, which was enjoyed by all students last term. As part of this, we will explore and set goals in small steps working towards their dreams.
We will continue to practice life skills using the Talentino programme with Natalie on a Wednesday morning. Check Evidence for Learning to see what they are up to this term. Cooking will continue on a Thursday morning as well.
Key Dates and other information
PE continues to be on a Wednesday afternoon. Your child can wear their PE kit into school for the day. This can be adapted to suit the weather as it gets colder e.g. joggers, trainers and hoodies to keep warm. Please don't buy it specially for PE. Use what your students have already.
We will still be doing Friendly Friday, where pupils have a choice to see friends from other bubbles in the big main playground outside. Sadly due to Covid we have had to put a temporary halt on Feel Good Friday and mixing inside with other classes. We hope to do this again in Term 4.
