Term 1

A huge welcome to the new school year. We are very excited to be back and to have your student as part of Team Diamond. We have moved classrooms and are now based upstairs with Ruby Class.

Curriculum overview

This term our topic is 'Space'.

Our topic will be focused on a mixture of history and science. We will look at some significant figures, such as Neil Armstrong. In science, we will focus on light, shadows and the solar system.

Our books for this term are 'Moon Man' by Tomi Ungerer and 'The Boy Who Grew Dragons' by Andy Shepherd. As part of our learning, we will be exploring the non-fiction genre of recount. Our topics for maths will be place value and length. In PHSE, we will be looking at 'Being Me in My World'. We will explore our identify and how we connect with our communities and the world around us.

Once a week in Diamond class we practice life skills using the Talentino programme. This will help us develop our life skills, such as cleaning, making beds, gardening, office jobs etc. We will also cook once a week with Janet. We will follow recipes to cook savoury meals, sweet treats and other things our students suggest.

PE is Wednesday afternoon. Students can wear their PE kit for the day.
