Joining Post 16

At New Siblands School we understand how important it is to make sure parents, carers and the referring authority have all the information they need in order to make the right decision regarding a school placement. Choosing the right placement  can be a difficult and daunting process and we hope to make this as easy and as quick as possible.

In the first instance we encourage families and young people to visit our provision and discuss the curriculum with our post-16 team. Following these visits the family can request a placement and it is the local authority’s role to make the initial decision whether this is suitable. They will then send a copy of the EHCP to us request a placement.

For a young person to be admitted, New Siblands must be named, by a local authority, in their Education Health Care Plan (EHCP). Parents wishing their children to attend New Siblands post-16 should ask their local authority to name the placement under Section I of the EHCP
