A huge welcome to the new school year. We are very excited to be back and to have your student as part of Team Ruby. We have moved classrooms and are now based upstairs with Diamond Class.
This term our topic is 'Space'.
Our topic will be focused on a mixture of history and science. We will look at some significant figures, such as Neil Armstrong. In science, we will focus on light, shadows and the solar system.
Our books for this term are 'Moon Man' by Tomi Ungerer and 'The Boy Who Grew Dragons' by Andy Shepherd. As part of our learning, we will be exploring the non-fiction genre of recount. Our topics for maths will be place value and length. In PHSE, we will be looking at 'Being Me in My World', this will be delivered through the Jigsaw programme. We will explore our identify and how we connect with our communities and the world around us.
We will also be focussing on the student's independence skills by going on road safety walks and undertaking basic tidying up and cleaning skills, hopefully this will help at home too!! Regular cooking sessions will allow the students to try making a selection of sweet and savoury treats!
Weekend News books will be sent home on a Friday, can you and/or your child fill in any information or photos about your weekend activities as this supports our speaking, reading and writing activities?
