Term 1

Welcome to Term 1 in Ruby class!

We hope you've all had a fantastic summer and now ready for the new school year ahead!

Please take a look at the information below to give you an insight as to what to expect from the teaching and learning in Ruby class.

Curriculum overview

This term our topic is 'Friendship'.

Early Intervention/ECSE / ECSE Services

We will be focusing on friendship in various ways and thinking carefully about how it makes us feel, how we can make others feel and how we can resolve any conflict that may occur within friendships.

We will also be focusing on what it means to be part of Ruby Class and also being part of our local community, both at New Siblands and outside of our school.

With the changes that a new school year brings and also coming out of lock down measures, we will focus on identifying and managing our emotions.

Our books for this term are 'On Sudden Hill' by Linda Sarah and 'The Robot and the Bluebird' by David Lucas.

In PHSE, we will be looking at how connecting with other people is an essential part of our lives. We will explore relationships and ensuring that they are healthy.

Every Thursday, our class will be practising life skills using the Talentino programme and also cook weekly in the school bungalow. During our term 1 lessons, pupils will have the opportunity to build on their own personal life skills such as vacuuming, washing dishes, making squash, cleaning windows and caring for plants.
