Topic – Belonging
Due to the lock down and school closures, we will mostly be focused on the recovery curriculum. We want to ensure that our students feel like the belong to our school community once again after the long break, so we will be mainly focused on our topic ‘Belonging‘. This will include lots of work on identifying, managing and naming feelings. We understand the importance of mental health so there will be lots of social, emotional and mental health lessons, team building sessions, routine setting and easing back into work at an appropriate pace. We also focus on who we are and where we belong, especially what makes us awesome!
We will be sharing two books as a class and a lot of our reading and writing will come from these.
These books are aimed at helping us understand, name and recognise our emotions and feelings. A skill that is not only important for our class but also for life! We will write our own adventures for the characters and also write about different feelings we have had.
We will also slowly be starting back up reading schemes, See and Learn programmes, handwriting interventions and fine motor skill activities.
This term we will focus on place value and the four number operations (addition, subtraction, multiplication & division). This will be done at the students pace as we support them in gaining confidence in their learning. To start with a lot of learning will be around mathematical investigations.
- Duke of Edinburgh award work will continue with Sally on a Friday as we work towards our Bronze award.
- PE will also be on a Friday. Please make sure the students have a PE kit that fits. We will be sending it home every half term for a wash to help limit the support of Coronavirus.
- We would like to be cooking our own lunch in the bungalow once a week. You will be informed of the day when we have confirmed it.
- Outside learning will happen on a Thursday.
