Term 2
We are looking forward to a busy second term with our Diamond Class students.
Curriculum overview
This term our topic is 'Marvellous Me & My Senses'.
We will have a science focus this term for our topic and explore our body, our organs, our senses and our skeleton. We will investigate our reaction times and also our heart rate. In art, we will be exploring various sculptors and their 3D work. We hope to create our own 3D sculptures.
Our books for this term are 'What the Ladybird Heard Next' by Julia Donaldson & Lydia Monks and 'Sticky McStickstick' by Michael Rosen.
In PHSE, we will be looking at the Jigsaw topic 'Celebrating Difference'. We will also enjoy celebrating Halloween, Bonfire Night, Children In Need and Christmas as part of our learning this term.
Once a week in Diamond class we practice life skills using the Talentino programme with Janet on a Wednesday. She will help us develop our life skills, such as cleaning, making beds, gardening, office jobs etc
Each Thursday, we will split into two groups. One group will cook with Liz and the other will do some speaking and listening skills with Angela. Some students will be using the Talkabout scheme of work to develop their social communication skills.

Key Dates and other information
PE remains on a Wednesday afternoon. Students can wear their PE Kits into school for the whole day. Janet is our teacher for the day.
Cooking remains on a Thursday morning. We will communicate via the diary what we will be making and whether we are eating our cooking in school or at home.
Feel Good Friday continues. The students have a choice of a youth group & art room, sensory relaxation time or music & games in the hall.
Parents' Evening is Monday 7th November. Look out for a letter in your student's bag.
We will be in touch later in the term to let you know the dates for our Christmas functions e.g. Christmas performance, Christmas dinner etc.
