Term 4


This term we will be looking at two books.

Roar! by Paul and Henrietta Strickland

Harry And The Bucketful of Dinosaurs by Ian Whybrow and Adrian Williams

These books will both be explored through reading the story, role play, Makaton signs and sensory objects Some of our pupils will begin to write their own stories and some will begin to name characters and sequence the main parts of the story. Others will re-tell the story using Eyegaze and start to match pictures to objects. We will be using Roar! to help us all learn about opposites.

Attention Autism (Bucket) will take place on Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday afternoons. We will be doing an extended bucket session on Wednesday so some pupils will participate in sensory diet during the second part of the session.

We will continue with our fine motor skills each week by completing activities in our Finger Gym, Dough Disco and topic based tasks. Some pupils will continue with the ‘See & Learn’ programme.



Shape, space and measure

Our pupils who are working on a non-national pathway will be exploring lots of math’s in cross curricular lessons, some of these will be linked to our Dinosaur topic. These pupils will be concentrating on measure length, weight and capacity, directions and 2D and 3D shapes.

Pupils that are following the national curriculum pathway will be working on geometry, statistics and money. They will be naming 3D shapes identifying their properties and learning about the different coins that we use.

  • Exploring archaeology through frozen dinosaurs
  • Dinosaur foot printing
  • Dinosaur foot print biscuits
  • Creating dinosaur bones using salt dough
  • Dinosaur hunt outside
  • Fruit dinosaur
  • Small world Dinosaurs
  • Creating mud caves, nests and dinosaur footprints in the outdoor area
  • Using hand prints to make dinosaurs
  • Dinosaur raps and songs
  • Creating dinosaur music using instruments
  • Board games and turn taking games
  • Exploring feelings and making happiness boxes
