Term 3

The Crocodile Who Didn’t Like Water – By Gemma Merino

Our book this term is an exciting story about a crocodile who doesn’t like water. He wants to be like his brothers and sisters who all love the water and swimming, but no matter how hard he tries he just can’t be like them. He learns that being different is fine and that he has some very important skills that his brothers and sisters don’t have.

We will be exploring the book in different ways e.g. through Makaton, role play and sensory objects for some of our students. We will also be working together in making a classroom display to show some of our hard work.

Gold class will continue this term to improve our fine motor skills by participating in weekly dough disco sessions and visiting our finger gym.

See & Learn will continue for those students who follow this programme.

All Gold class students will take part in Attention Autism (bucket) sessions. These are being held 3 times a week.

Gold class students who are working at Non-National Curriculum will be looking at numbers during our maths sessions. They will be recognizing numbers, counting, sorting and sharing. To do this they will be using different objects, songs and dances.

Gold class students who are working at National Curriculum will be concentrating on addition, subtraction, multiplication and division. We will start to think about what the different symbols mean and  writing our own number sentences.
